Lynxboard

David Greenwood

Lynxboard is a medium weight forum solution, which is a joint venture between Magic Dave (Lynxifer) and CJ (UnDeR_SEEG).
Lynxboard has been designed entirely by Lynxifer to be a balanced hybrid between a light weight forum solution, and a media and feature rich, as well as demanding forum solution.

Started in the new year of 2006 during Lynxifer's time as a student at college, the visual design had changed very little. From a very simple forum with only one subforum, no administrative controls and no moderation actions, the two tone greys and white background has remained as the core style.
From there, it has evolved to have multiple subforums, localization, smilies, BB Code, Archiving, Private Messaging and so much, much more.

UnDeR_SEEG joined the project in the summer of 2006, and from there has made several great leaps to get the forum into a gold status, single handedly (and with no prior PHP experience) he has re-written the authentication system to allow unregistered / un logged on users the means to view threads, written means to track online / offline users as well as several tweaks to improve performance across the whole board.

LynxNews

David Greenwood

Lynxnews is a web based application designed entirely by Lynxifer and written in PHP. The originally application was designed for a college project for a website to use to provide its users with site and content updates. The original was slow, featured basic news postings and very limited BBCode.

The current version (that you are using to view this page) has support for far more options. Originally you only had one output page, now you can expand to as many output pages as you like, as well as being able to use complex BBcode. (The BBCode system implemented here is the same API that features in Lynxboard, allowing images as well as Rich text formatting, the only difference is that smilie support has been removed.)
Additionally, comments and email support has been brought to the system, making it more of a group blogging system than just a basic news system. The original system was done entirely with HTML tables whereas this version is entirely CSS layout driven, allowing greater customizability.

Lynxnews 2.0 as of now can be classified as a product demo, the main work of porting over old code, repairing broken systems and updating old execution methods has been done, whilst totally new features (such as RSS and possibly smilies, if requests warrant the work) have currently been left out from the demo.
